Empties!

I can't keep up with empties. If you saw my exploding bag of used-up products, you would probably tell me to just give up and pitch them already. These posts require more pictures so it takes me a bit of time; I really should just do a video... Or else, the products end up all crooked and bother every person with OCD tendencies. Sigh. It happens, and it's just one of those weeks!

Anyhow, this grouping consists of some of my absolute favourites - so get ready for a really positive post!

Price: 5.99 (*sample size shown here)

Size: 7.0 g

Claims: Smooth, matte finish. Finely milled, blurs imperfections, fills in fine lines, shine-free, airbrushed look. Works with all skin tones.

* Let's get the one negative review out of the way. This deluxe sample came in an Ipsy bag (which I no longer subscribe to). It was terrible. Left a white cast and an obvious texture to my skin (enhanced fine lines, and pores). The packaging is utterly horrible. Lastly, it did not leave me oil-free for long. I was happy to finish this (I used it all up because I don't have the heart to wastefully throw things out...). You really notice a difference when you go from a higher end to a lower end powder - I learned my lesson.

Price: C$11.00

Size: 165 pads

Claims: 100% natural. Soft, gentle, smooth texture.

* These are fantastic. If you are tired of cotton pads that shed or have trouble absorbing product (and the liquid just runs off the pad) - I highly recommend these. I will always continue to repurchase these for my toner, cleansing waters, makeup removers, etc. So soft, absorbent, and they don't fall apart or shed! It is pricey for a cotton pad, but you can cut them in half if you like to save some extra $$! <-- (Tip from Stephanie Nicole!)

Price: C$24.00

Size: 6.7 oz

Claims: 100% organic. Suitable for sensitive skin types. Increases hydration and reduces sensitivity. "+127 percent hydration and -61 percent skin sensitivity upon use." Contains moisturizing polysaccharides, mineral salts, and potassium. Can be used as a toner, setting spray, or to refresh and hydrate throughout the day.

* Part of my science brain wonders if this truly had any major effect on my skin. However, something about it made me fall in love. The mist is one of the most fine sprays out of any "misting product" I have tried. I find it hydrating and soothing after using a chemical peel. My fiance laughs every time I use this - there is a lot of excessive spraying action going on, I might overdo it some days. It calms my skin, hydrates, and is extremely refreshing/therapeutic. Is it necessary? Maybe not - but I will repurchase and continue to use it in my routine.

Price: $68.00 *Unavailable in Canada, they recently pulled out of Sephora.

Size: 1 oz (*sample shown here) Claims: All natural, and vegan. Ultra-sheer formula. Provides antioxidant protection. Smoothes and revives skin. Repairs and refines skins texture, and helps to clarify complexion. Free of parabens, sulphates, phthalates, petrolatum, synthetic colour, synthetic fragrance, mineral oil, and silicones.

* It is a very thin formula, and quickly absorbs into my skin. It does not leave any residue, so it is ideal for daytime. Loaded with omegas and lacking fragrance - which I appreciate. I won't say much more than that, I cannot repurchase anyhow!

Price: C$8.76

Size: 200 ml

* I've gone through another one of these, my current favourite scent. It does leave a white cast, but leaves my hair feeling clean and not coated with product. I am too cheap to waste money on higher end dry shampoos, so this is my choice for now!

Price: C$20.00

Size: 5 treatments

Claims: Anti-aging, smoothing, resurfacing, nourishing, and refreshing. Contains 7 acids in this particular formula, in a two-step treatment. Diminishes fine lines with continued use.

* I prefer the extra strength formula (I find the gentle and original versions do not do enough for my skin, choose a formula to suit your skin type). I notice a huge difference in the texture of my skin if I stop using these. Additionally, I have almost no breakouts when I use them. This is more of a re-surfacing treatment, and it helps take that dead layer of skin off my face without irritation. My products absorb better into my skin and my makeup applies flawlessly. Cannot live without.

Price: C$8.00

Size: 4.5 g

Claims: Lightweight, blends evenly, vibrant, and silky. Paraben free. Cruelty free.

* Sorry for the wretched look of my leftover product, but this was well used! I use this as a contour colour (recommended by Nikki Tutorials). I have very fair skin, and this cool tone blush seems to work well. Go in with a light hand and blend (if you've gone to heavy you can use some translucent powder to buff out any harsh lines).

Price: C$27.00

Size: .003 oz

Claims: Ultra slim, retractable, precise pencil. Ideal for drawing brow hairs. Smudge proof! Free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates.

* This is my favourite brow pencil. I recently tried the NYX dupe and found the formula not nearly as soft and the colour pulled a little warm on me. This Brow Wiz glides on effortlessly, does not tug at your skin, the colour is cool toned, build-able, and long lasting. The product is pricey, but I do not have thick brows and I do more of a natural brow. Therefore, it lasts a long time for me. I will say, my spoolie fell off pretty much right away. *sigh*

Price: C$23.00

Size: .02 oz

Claims: Effortless, precise application. High-pigment, waterproof, fade free, crack free, melt free, run-resistant. Super fine brush tip allows for fluid application. Felt tip will not fray.

* This product lives up to ALL of its claims. It is effortless to create the perfect wing and does not skip across my eye. I have nothing bad to say about it. The only preference for some people, might be that it does not dry matte but has a shinier finish. For me, I will continue to purchase it.

Price: C$12.00

Size: 1.8 ml

Claims: Moisturizes and softens cuticles. Sweet almond scent.

* This pen is perfection (it is your typical twist pen that clicks as it dispenses the product). It is small and travel friendly - I just toss it in my purse and fix up my cuticles at work (when the hand sanitizer takes its toll on my hands and dries them to a lovely desert). The smell is good, and it works - simple as that. My cuticles are so soft after using this. I have no complaints, and if you ever see them having a sale, go pick this up!

Price: C$7.96

Size: 650 ml

Claims: Smooth hair & lustrous shine. Tames frizz and fly aways.

* I had to change up my usual conditioner because I was getting bored of the same scent. This is one I have continued to repurchase. It is pretty basic, but leaves my hair soft (I have dry, thick, damaged hair). I love the light coconut scent (it is not overpowering). If you are picky on your hair products (I am not), then do some research. For me, I had no build up and it did not make my hair flat (but I have read that those with fine hair may run into trouble with that issue).

And yes, the most fun part... to get rid of these products that have been laying around - such a cleansing feeling.

Much love,

- AH
