January Empties!

Hi Everyone! Here are a few things from my trash... I have even more, but I'll spare you the long post and divide that into two parts. Suddenly, I have been using everything up at once - so here are some mini reviews. I still like to always remind everyone to let your skin lead the way... don't be swayed by reviews, do your research and do what works for you!

I have also been slowly trying to improve this blog... It is a work in process. I am not the most tech savvy - so bare with me! I added a subscribe button today *round of applause*! It is the little things right? Between renovating my kitchen, working full time, and this wretched flu I've had... Life is always busy! I definitely wish I had more time to invest... but alas, I will be happy with small milestones each week.

On to my empties, before I toss these puppies in the recycling!

Size: 1.7 oz

Price: C$37.00 (you can find this at Winners for much cheaper...$10-20)

* I have talked about this peel before, and gone through one of these in a previous empties. I keep repurchasing it because it works for me. I notice a big difference as soon as I remove the mask. That being said, I don't think this one is good for anyone with skin sensitivities. It literally burns my eyes and makes me cough when I apply it...(don't judge me). I use it because it resurfaces my skin instantly. I feel like saying "use at your own risk", but that doesn't sound reassuring haha.

Size: 8.75 oz

Price: 4/C$20.00

*Now I know I'm Canadian...but that 'Maple Sugar Kiss' is to die for. If you purchase any fall scents next year...grab that one. Very sweet, but I literally can't stop smelling my hands after I wash them. Candy apple was ok, pretty standard sweet apple smell.

Size: 1.7 oz

Price: C$79.00

*This mask is meant to be used for 10-20 minutes or overnight (which is what I preferred, in order to see any real benefits). I often used it on my face, neck and chest after being in the sun or during the cold Canadian winters. It has a light warm scent like almonds and coconuts (to me) and it absorbed quickly into my skin. It was hydrating, but only if I used it over night (not as a quick mask). I didn't mind it, but I wouldn't repurchase it. There are better night creams on the market, and the hefty price tag doesn't help. I prefer some of the other GlamGlow masks, but this one was just ok for me.

Size: 20 wipes

Price: C$11.00

*These were ok, I liked that they didn't leave an oily residue and they did not irritate my eyes. It took some effort to take off waterproof mascara, but for basic eye makeup it was fine. The size of the wipes are pretty tiny (so if you are expecting to take off a full face of makeup, you will need more than one). The foil packets are good for travel too.

Size: 6.73 oz

Price: C$6.99 (*website says it is more than store price)

*This was my first bottle of Batiste dry shampoo... I couldn't believe how high pressured the spray is! I actually laughed because I sprayed it all over the place by accident...I got the hang of it though. The scent is nice, I like it better than the floral one I am using now. It does leave a white cast (which brightens up my blonde highlights and helps disguise my roots), but beware if you have darker hair (fluffing it with your hands does help it tone down slightly). This actually made my hair feel clean. No more grease. No more shine. Fresh. No yucky residue feeling and it lasts all day. So...much...better... than the Dove one I used last time.

Size: 1.6 oz

Price: C$79.00

*I don't know why I let myself buy this. I went into Sephora and asked for a neck cream (before I really started researching my skin care products), and the lady immediately grabbed this off the shelf. It is rated 4/5 stars on Sephora's website...and I don't know how. I hated it. The perfume and fragrance is so high up on the ingredients list, and is very overwhelming. The scent did not fade, and literally nauseated me throughout the day. If I wanted to wear perfume, I kept smelling this darn neck cream instead. Yes, it did moisturize my skin very nicely. No, it did not improve wrinkles and firm my neck. I am 31 years old, and was looking for a preventative (although I do have fine lines)...I do not understand how people are saying this is a miracle worker. It left me with soft perfumey skin, and that is it. The cream is a thin formula, it does absorb nicely. The jar packaging is a fail for me, considering the price point...and the ingredients are nothing to write home about. Save yourself...stay away.

Size: 30 treatments + 5 bonus treatments

Price: $110.00

*This is one of my favourite peels that I have tried so far, I have went through an entire box and repurchased it already. For me, I don't use it every night (I mix it up with other chemical exfoliants). I also make sure to really hydrate my skin (by using cocktail of serums, face oils, and moisturizers at night). However, this peel shows immediate effects and is helping to resurface my skin. I am literally undoing years of neglect (sleeping with makeup on, clogged pores, fine lines, etc). The past few months I have been slowly but surly overhauling my skin, and I will continue to use these in my skin regime. I see a smoother texture, clearer pores, and reduced fine lines. Yes!!

Size: 2 oz ea (x4)

Price: $16.00 (I purchased them in a set, but they are also sold individually)

*The set includes a strawberry, vanilla, and lemon scents as well. I enjoyed all of these, and would continue to repurchase because they are so yummy! Definitely all sweet scents, nothing floral or mature about them. There is not much to say, besides the fact that they are cute little hand creams that are the perfect size for my purse. I think if you had severely dry hands, these would not cut it. BUT they are free of parabens, sodium chloride, phthalates, sodium lauryl sulfate, GMO's, mineral oil, petrolatum, gluten, triclosan if that is your thing! I have already repurchased these before.

Size: 1 mask per pkg

Price: C$8.00 (or buy 2 get 1 free using code SCMASK)

*I actually loved these, and have reviewed them previously. I think it delivers a relaxing experience and hydrates my skin - for that I am happy. There are no "miracles" with these masks, I just simply enjoy them. When my skin needs a boost of moisture after a long run of night shifts, I use them. I do not see individual effects from each variety of mask but my skin does appear more plump after each use (most likely a short term effect). I will say - I hated the lotus one... it had such a sour smell to it (very off putting).

Whew! That is all for now! Leave any product recommendations to try - I love sampling new things! I have a mini haul coming up, and a couple of reviews... (time pending)! I hope you all have a great weekend:) Much love! xoxo
