Sheet Masks - Mini Reviews!

Hey everyone! Sorry I have been distant the last couple of weeks, I have just been working really long nights with hardly any days off. My real job is actually quite a stressful one - I work in an intensive care unit at a childrens hospital (incase anyone was ever curious when I talk about night shifts, now you know haha). Needless to say, the long nights and total sleep deprivation take their toll on my skin. I look at a picture of myself just 4 years ago, and its heartbreaking how different I look. What is even worse, is when children grab my name tag with the old photo and say, "is this you?? It doesn't look like you!!" I tend to get quite down on myself, but it is just driving me to take better care of my skin. Lately, I have been really trying to keep up with using a chemical exfoliant and then hydrating myself with a sheet mask.

I might do a k-beauty haul and try out some new skin care - their products and creativity intrigue me!!

Here are some very mini reviews - and essentially...which ones would I repurchase??

Size: Set of 3

Price: $14.95

Pros: Contains cucumber extract, plant collagen, and Vitamin E. Soothing, calming, and hydrating. This one was the best of the bunch and I noticed immediate results. My skin looked so soft, supple and rejuvenated. It was a well soaked mask, with lots of serum that I was able to use on my neck as well. Not sticky, easily absorbed. The mask fit great on the face and smelled nice. Not tested on animals. Biodegradable.

Cons: None. I didn't notice a difference in my pores or fine lines, but I would need to use it more to see those effects.

The Verdict: A definite repurchase!

Size: 2 Masks

Price: C$9.00

Pros: Enriched with green tea leaf, lemon, rosemary, thyme, and jasmine extracts. Very thin sheet that fit my face well. The sheet is slippery and well hyrdated in essence, I used it on my neck as well. Very light scent. Face was nice and hydrated after using this.

Cons: Essence drips a bit because there is so much, however that didn't irritate me. Ever so slightly sticky afterwards, but not nearly as bad as other masks I have tried.

The Verdict: Didn't notice any life changing effects, however, it was soothing. I will try other masks from this brand (But Sephora prices are inflated...look elsewhere!)

3 - The Face Shop - Blueberry

Price: C$2.00

Size: 1 mask

Pros: Mild pleasant scent, with a good amount of essence. Face felt somewhat hydrated after, but nothing like other masks I have tried. Cheap in price.

Cons: I have tried many masks from The Face Shop and I don't notice any particular difference between each one. The effects on my skin are very minimal and the mask does not fit well on my face at all. The biggest complaint I have, is how sticky their masks leave my face -I hate the feeling of having residue left over! (That being said this one was not as bad as their other ones I have tried).

The Verdict: I will not repurchase.

Price: C$6.00

Size: 1

Pros: This is the anti-fatigue/energizing mask. The masks sit very well under the eye area, and are well hydrated with product. Very refreshing and leaves eye area noticeably plump after you remove it. Ultra soothing after a long day!

Cons: Price point is a bit high for one small mask. Its diffcult to see long term results with a one time use.

The Verdict: I like these, particularly the way they fit under my eye so well. I feel refreshed after long night shifts, and it gives me that extra boost of hydration. I would repurchase. Also, see my Rose Eye Mask review here!

Price: C$4.00

Size: 1 mask

Pros: A dual step mask that involves using the ampoule first and applying the mask afterwards. You get a lot of essence with this mask (almost more than your face can absorb). I left it on longer then required and it was still very saturated. It is moiusturizing.

Const: This mask does not fit my face well at all. It is thick and goes all the way under the chin with pieces for behind your ears as well (it's HUGE and drove me nuts). I had to whipe off a lot of excess essence at the end as it did not absorb.

The Verdict: Neat to try, but not interested in buying this style of mask again.

Price: C$3.00

Size: 1 mask

Pros: Contains a good amount of gel, does not drip. It has a cooling sensation to the skin.

Cons: I felt that the mask dried really quickly, and then it became so itchy feeling on my face that I had to take it off. Afterwards, my skin was very sticky. I did not notice any difference in my skins texture or appearance.

The Verdict: I would not repurchase.

Well there you have it, I guess I am clearly not a fan of The Face Shop Masks... Sorry:( But I hope this helped you get an idea of which masks were hits and which masks were shits! More to come I promise!

I have been having a lot of fun trying sheet masks, and if you have any to recommend to me please let me know in the comments below!! I am interested in testing out other brands and exploring the world of sheet masks haha. It's just so relaxing at the end of a long day to come home and lay in bed with a good book and plop one of these on my face.
